THQ has been throwing out hints and what-not since the release of 2006’s GTA next-best-thing, Saints Row. They’ve update the official SR website today to show a logo and screenshots for Saints Row 2, arriving in 2008.
The screenshots show a slight diversion from the overly-comical art style in its lampooning of Grand Theft Auto, this time around Volition Studio’s game will be closer in graphical style to Rockstar’s crime-sim. The new screens show off motorbikes, a feature missing in the first title, and a helicopter – whether they’re actually pilotable this time around is unknown.
Saints Row was one of my favourite titles of 2006 and still in my top 5 or so titles on the Xbox 360; it’s just a well made and extremely fun title; a low-rent GTA with its own questionable humour. Saints Row 2 will be releasing in 2008, most likely on PS3 and Xbox 360.
