Maybe we have underestimated just how big these new music distribution methods can get…
In the first week of sales for their new single, Saints of Los Angeles (Mötley Recods, 2008) sold 10,000 copies through digital music stores such as iTunes and Amazon.
During that same period, the Rock Band edition was bought and downloaded a whopping 47,000 – on Xbox 360 alone!
With music piracy so unmanageably commonplace in the 21st century, even the convenience of iTunes can’t save the industry. On the other hand, you can’t pirate Rock Band songs.
How many record labels must be lining up at Harmonix’s door this morning?

My copy arrived yesterday morning (thank you Amazon!), and upon opening it at about half 7 in the evening we played it for at least seven hours straight.
Rock Band….
is awesome. SO AWESOME. Drums. Awesome.
However awesome Rock Band might be, no game is worth £160. Until they fix the game’s unreasonable price, I’m going no where near it.
Mine arrived yesterday, picked up the drums from work today, bloody awesome game. Can’t wait to plunge all my wages into DLC!
I went to play at HMV today, it was good because i was jamming with strangers (I was drumming) but I hit the start button on the drums and restarted the song…. TWICE. It was good.

I got my copy on Sunday and have tried to play as much as possible. Have done a fair bit of guitar on expert and drums on medium (cos i’m shit).
The track list is brilliant. Lots of songs I wouldn’t normally be into, but are good nonetheless. Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps” is SO GOOD on drums and guitar!
