Note: All of this information was from a GamesRadar story on Resident Evil 5, which even included new screenshots. The article has been taken down and Capcom is denying it’s legitimacy, but it’s likely that GamesRadar broke their embargo. While we believe this news is true, please take it with a grain of salt.
Resident Evil 5, set after the T-Virus is unleashed and Leon goes Loco in Spain (sorry – an unnamed European country), will feature some old favourites and some brand new additions. For example, Mercenaries, a survival minigame, will see its return in Resident Evil 5, along with more unannounced minigames.
However, the biggest news is online co-op. GamesRadar says “like Gears, the entirety of Resident Evil 5 features jump in/jump out gameplay with the AI taking over the reigns [sic] of our mysterious female mercenary when you’re playing alone”.
Chris also has the ability to dodge attacks similar to Clover Studios’ God Hand, and will have a cover mechanic, allowing you to lock onto a wall and fire around it.

Please be true or send GamesRadar to damnation forever! I pretty much played Resident Evil 4 co-op, only advancing in the game when my brother visited. I’m not sure why in the end, but it was just this great experience we had together.
If we can get in the game together, Resi 5 will be incredible.
Resident Evil 5 with co-op? That would be bloody amazing. My only concern is that it would remove the fear factor, but I suppose you could play it alone first.
Well, I remember hearing it had online play. They sure kept us waiting a while for the specific details of this though. I’m sure that it will still be a great game without co-op.
