At Microsoft’s E3 2008 Conference, the American software giant revealed the power of Xbox 360’s dashboard as they revealed a whole reinvention of your Xbox 360 interface.
Featuring a swish, sliding interface similar to Windows Media Centre and Zune, this brand new dashboard transforms every list, from your game collection to your friends list, into a visual spread of information and interactivity.
The new dashboard will include “Avatars”, a take on Nintendo’s Mii, allowing you to create and dress a personalised character that will represent you online. Created by Rare, these avatars will follow you through the dashboard, crop up in supported games and wear clothes that you can buy (ugh) or earn in selected games (yay).
The new interface will include a party system, supporting up to 8 players who can chat and seamlessly move between games, photos, TV shows and Movies.
The brand new “Primetime” section of the interface will provide all sorts of interactive entertainment. The first shown off at the conference is an exclusive debut of TV game show, “1 vs. 100”. Using your avatars, you’ll be able to compete online and win real prizes.
The downloadable update will be available for download this Autumn.
