For the launch of the new Eidos game Summer Athletics, video games and sport were combined yesterday in a mashup resulting in Gamecube throwing, the Wiilay and Xbox hurling – between plays of the digital versions of actual summer sports.

We’ll have a full report soon, but until then we’ve got a small preview in the form of 2 minutes of Xbox consoles being thrown around Battersea Athletics Track. This one’s for TeamXbox.

And because every soul on the internet is Mr Moral Highground, many of these couldn’t have been donated to charity due to them being debug units, and they were all property of Eidos’ marketing department. Whether Eidos does make donations to charity is another matter entirely, and was not exactly the sort of thing in keeping with the theme of the event.

Yeah – details of the winners have been passed on to our sponsors Newitts.com – they were Vanessa Cox for the big prize pack, and a copy of Beijing 2008 to Stephane Welsh.

Yes it was. I should watch the video before I comment.
Anyway, is there a specific reason it was Xboxes being destroyed? They look like the hardest one to destroy, I guess.

No real reason. Some of the Xboxes were debugs from Eidos PR, Gamecubes also got destroyed and various controllers. I saw Wii Wheels lying around too, and those certainly weren’t for playing the game.

That is so unfunny. “Crazy” humor by student nerds suddenly feeling all cool and shit. To all poor people in the world – IN YA FACE! You should be happy you dont have to find your toys on a trashdump.

It’s too bad they’re not trashing 360s, with the Kane & Lynch code in them.
