Left 4 Dead’s Patch in Pictures

Valve has issued a patch for Left 4 Dead’s PC release over Steam. The massive update fixes a number of glitches, bugs and exploits players faced and abused. See the entire list at Steam’s news site. Below is a list of the most important new features, complimented by our screenshots.

null

The stats page over at Steam’s website has had a massive overhaul, showing you a number of statistics, records and preferences alongside your achievements. The stats start from tonight, so here’s to a 100% Zoey run for 2009!

null

A number of map related exploits have been fixed; above, the ramp on No Mercy’s final, which was previously an impregnable safe haven, is closed off by crates. The sliding door in No Mercy’s Sewer level can no longer be knocked down by incessant meleeing and the minigun can’t be turned into an impromptu man cannon, either.

null

The HUD for Infected Players now shows information regarding your teammates, instead of the survivors. It shows who is dead, alive and spawning, plus which infected they’re using and their health or their respawn timer.

null

The meter that shows how long until your Infected’s special power regenerates, is now conveniently next to your health.

null

The Smoker received a much needed buff, and is actually useable for stuff other than dropping players off No Mercy’s rooftop! Go Smoker!

null

Tank-o-vision now adds a red outline to smashable objects. Both the Tank and the Witch are more frequent now, and will spawn in the exact same location for both Versus-Mode runs. The Tank is also more impervious to the fabled auto-shotgun.

A pretty spiffy update all round, with fans of the Smoker undoubtedly pleased. The only problem with him now is that it’s still too easy for Hunters to pounce a Smoker’s prey, leaving the chat box full of unpleasant profanities.

The game still needs a party system; a phrase me and BGB’s Phil say every time we want to hop in versus mode together… which is just about every night.

And finally, we could really do with the other two maps being made available for versus mode. Seriously, I haven’t even seen Death Toll.

So glad the ramp in No Mercy has been boarded up- the finale was far too easy because of it. Now make the change for the X360 version!

Death Toll is the best scenario, I can’t wait for it to available in Versus.

Ahh thankgod. People had the nerve to say meleeing the shutter door on the sewer level wasn’t bug abuse.
II’ve seen alot less tanks if i’m honest, so I dunno how that is working out. The Smoker is better which is nice but I’m disappointed they made the Hunter claw less powerful.

The game’s brilliant, and I too look forward to the other two campaigns opening up for versus. Blood harvest sux badly. I mainly play No Mercy.

This game neeeds a party system. At least in other Source games you can park yourself outside a server and pop in when somebody leaves, but the fixed 8 slots, gameplay structure and the fact my internet connection sucks means that it almost always comes down to one of us joining a game lobby and then yelling at the other one to join before it fills up over voice chat. Still, almost every time (unless I have like 800 ping) we play well together and somebody will say something really funny (you know what I’m talking about.)

I whistled for a tank and when it came near the infected was buff and it threw rocks in the air. If anything, I could say this type was rare, but I thought “nah, forget it” Yo holmes, to Dead Air!

Oh, and if anyone wants to play with us on Steam, add McBacon to your friendslist. I probably won’t join often, because me and Rog play together, but we always scan the old friendslist for good versus matches.

I am quietly impressed with this statement “The game still needs a party system” here. In todays systematic life, only gaming has become essential to everyone life. keep an eyes on Wii Fit Stock Check for getting your desired Stock availability for game at reasonable prices.

The two missing versus maps, modded from the campaign but fully working. Although the “climb” indicators aren’t there for infected, pipes etc are generally still climbable.

Of course you’ll need to find a server running them…
