Metal Gear Solid 4 hits Platinum on March 5th

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Platinum EditionSony and Konami have announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be discounted and added to the Playstation 3’s “Platinum” range on March 5th.

A game becomes Platinum whenever it sells more than 400,000 units in the PAL territories, and is dropped to £19.99 (or €29.95), sporting a rather fetching yellow sleeve (yes, that’s sarcasm). MGS is also covered with awards, given by various Playstation magazines.

If you can stomach the cover art, the price comes as a relief as Guns of the Patriots refuses to budge from its £25-£30 price point online.

MGS joins a list of Sony games, including Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm and Resistance, as well as third party titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Oblivion, Virtua Tennis 3 and FIFA 08. More games are planned for the range.

Sony’s Platinum product manager, Phil Lynch, told MVC UK “We are delighted with the response to the Platinum campaign from consumers and retail partners alike”.
