We’ve put down the consoles and picked up where things were left off from before as Jonathan is back with the sarcastic and cynical take on the past week of gaming news.
In this episode, it’s a look back on Leipzig as GC08 goes under review with the stories from the big 3. Well, the two that showed up. Newswire asks why Nintendo didn’t show up, questions the release of the new Xbox controller and is just baffled by Sony’s announcement.
And in other news, gamers are asked to Rock the Vote in America, Europe asks about Rock Band 2, and everybody asks how they’ll be able to rock with the new Guitar Hero peripheral – as well as how not to kidnap somebody.
Newswire is back and on location as we’re in Battersea Park for the launch event of Summer Athletics from Eidos: get the verdict on the Wii and 360 versions of this license-less track and field game, with some cycling and swimming thrown in for good measure.
And when the controllers are put down, check out from the 5 minute point the consoles are picked up for a videogame and sports mashup with possibly the world first (and last) competitions of Gamecube Hurling, Wiilay and Xbox Putting – before some needless destruction of electronics.

The BGB Newswire is a satirical look over the week in gaming news. On this episode, Microsoft’s Gamers Day sees Viva Pinata 2 and the new Banjo Kazooie game, but something seems missing. Sony adds YouTube support to the PS3, everybody’s hating on Nintendo, and please, don’t start a band.
The BGB Newswire is a satirical look over the past week (hey, 3 day weekend, I can get away with this) in Grand Theft Auto IV news, because little else happened during the week. In the show, first day sales and violence at launch, 360 vs PS3, Mothers against Drunk Driving and Jack Thompson, and BGB’s own Mark Brown with his thoughts on the game. Oh yeah, and there’s some story from Activision too.

The BGB Newswire is a weekly, satirical look over the past week’s gaming news. This week, Jonathan discusses the Byron Report, Sonic Unleashed, PEGI symbols and the scale of cockups.
Warning: contains a top hat.
In an attempt to expand our video content from the few and far between episodes of the BGB Wire (which I blame on having few things worth covering in its current format), today I’m launching the pilot episode for a potential new weekly video show, BGB Newswire.
As the name suggests, it’s a news-based spinoff from the BGB Wire, with the top stories of the last week, with a bit of humour and opinion. Whilst the exact format of the show has yet to be decided, that depends on the response. So please, please do get in touch through email, the comments form or laughing at me in the common room when I’m back at Sixth Form in a few weeks time. Don’t lie, some of you do it…
