LBP Content to be Region Locked (FALSE)

Sackboy - MadUpdate: This information is no longer factual

During a presentation of LittleBigPlanet at the Leipzig Games Convention, Sony’s Pete Smith delivered some crushingly disappointing news to those who’s anticipation of LittleBigPlanet has hit fever pitch.

The operations manager of Media Molecule revealed that user generated content will be region locked; gamers in Europe will be restricted from downloading levels created by American or Japanese players – and vice versa.

“We’ve got regional servers,” explained Smith. “But we can move levels around on servers whenever we want. But you won’t have access to the Japanese servers,” he added.

This pretty much ruins the notion of a “YouTube of Gaming” that developers have been chasing. When forums flood with classic levels and incredible contraptions recreated in LittleBigPlanet, you better hope they’ve been made in Blackpool.
